E-meter is een verkorte naam voor elektro-psychometer. Het is een religieus instrument dat gebruikt wordt als weergevend instrument van de geestelijke beleving. Het kan alleen gebruikt worden door een Scientology geestelijke of een Scientology geestelijke in opleiding, om de preclear te helpen gebieden van geestelijke beroering op te sporen en onder ogen te zien.
Op zichzelf doet deze E-meter niets. Het is een elektronisch instrument dat iemands geestelijke toestand en veranderingen daarin meet, en het helpt om exacter en sneller te auditeren. De E-meter is niet bedoeld voor of effectief bij het diagnostiseren, behandelen of voorkomen van ziektes.
Met de e-Meter van Scientoilogy gebieden van geestelijke beroering opsporen is het vakterrein van de psycholoog/psychiater, wat de scientology-geestelijke op één lijn zet met de kwakzalver die ook zo vaak in de weer is met het meten van de huidweerstand.
